Every urn carries the mark of the hands that made it
If you are looking for something that did not come out of a mould, that is not interchangeable, that does not sit on thousands of other mantelpieces, the Feggari may be exactly what you need. This ceramic funeral urn is hand-formed and hand-glazed by a ceramicist who approaches her work as a response to a single question: is there life after death? That question is woven into the name of the collection the Feggari belongs to.
Craftsmanship visible in every detail
Shaping ceramic by hand requires genuine technical skill and patience. The wall must be even, the glaze must bond cleanly, the form must hold. None of that can be automated. The result is that no two Feggari urns are identical: the brown tones shift slightly from piece to piece, and the surface texture responds to the light around it. That is not a flaw. It is the point. You receive something that is unique, not as a marketing phrase but as a plain fact.
- Hand-formed and hand-glazed by a single ceramicist
- Part of the collection 'Is there life after death...?'
- Brown tones and surface texture vary naturally between pieces
- No two urns are identical
A name as a starting point for remembrance
Feggari is the Greek word for moon. The moon is always there, even when you cannot see it. That idea may hold a particular meaning for you, a way of keeping alive the bond you shared with the person you have lost, through something that returns every evening. Or it may simply be a beautiful name for a beautiful urn. Both are fine.
Personalisation via an engraving plate
If you would like to personalise this urn for ashes, an engraving plate can be added. It can carry a name, a date, or a short phrase that says what ordinary words find difficult to express. You decide what it reads and how much or how little it says.
What to expect from ceramic
Ceramic is a strong material, but it does not absorb impact well. Place the urn on a stable surface, away from busy areas of the room. Because each piece is hand-glazed and kiln-fired, small variations in the surface may be visible. These are a natural part of the handmade process and have no effect on the strength or density of the material. The urn is designed for indoor use, in a settled, sheltered spot, and is suitable for use with or without an ash bag.
If you would like to talk through wording for an engraving plate, or have any questions about the Feggari, we are happy to take the time with you.
