A quiet presence that stays
Some people want a cremation urn that simply belongs where it is placed, visible every day without demanding attention. The Memento is made for exactly that.
How the Memento is made
The Memento is produced using a controlled casting process, beginning with a plaster mould as the base form. Once the piece has dried, the surface is smoothed and the urn is fired at 900°C. A satin glaze is then applied, followed by a second firing at 1,050°C. That second firing is what gives the glaze its characteristic soft sheen and produces a surface that needs no upkeep over the years. Ceramic has been worked this way for centuries, from ancient Egyptian craftspeople to the contemporary studios producing urns like this one today. The result carries that heritage plainly, in the finish itself.
What sets the Memento apart
The sphere is one of the most considered shapes in memorial design. It has no beginning and no end, and if you are looking for something that reflects the bond you shared with the person you are remembering, that continuity can carry real meaning. This is not decoration for its own sake; the form is part of what the urn says.
The satin white glaze works quietly alongside it. The finish is neither flat nor glossy but sits between the two, giving the urn a presence that holds its own in a modern interior as well as a more traditional one.
Compatible with or without an ash bag
The Memento is suitable for use both with and without an ash bag, so you can decide how you prefer to store the ashes. At a point when there is already a great deal to organise, that flexibility is worth having.
Practical things worth knowing
Ceramic is a durable material, but it rewards careful handling. The Memento is made for indoor use, and the satin glaze is at its best in that setting. Place it on a stable, flat surface away from busy walkways. A sharp knock or a fall can cause damage, as it can with any ceramic object, so a considered position matters. Cleaning is straightforward: a dry cloth, or a lightly damp one if needed. The surface requires nothing more.
Long-term durability
Ceramic urns for ashes do not warp, bow or degrade over time. They hold their colour, their shape and their finish without any special treatment. The Memento is built to remain exactly as it is, for as long as you want it there.
Giving memory a place
When you place an urn in your home, you are giving that person a continued presence in your daily life. The Memento's round form and quiet glaze are designed to support that without asserting themselves. It sits. It stays. It does its work.
If you would like to personalise this urn for ashes, an engraving plate can be added, carrying a name, a date or a short phrase that feels right to you.
Take the time you need to decide whether the Memento is right for you. If you have questions or would like to talk through the options, we are here to help.
