Every Memento begins with a technical drawing, from which a plaster model is produced. That model becomes the mould from which each urn is individually cast and then set aside to dry. Once dry, the surface is smoothed and the urn is fired at 900°C. A satin glaze is then applied, followed by a second firing at 1,050°C. This two-stage process is deliberate and not interchangeable: it is precisely what produces the smooth, muted sheen that makes the grey so settled to look at. You see the care taken in every stage when you hold the finished piece.
