A presence that holds its own secret
Not everyone wants a cremation urn that announces itself as one. If you are looking for something that holds a small, symbolic portion of ashes while sitting quietly among the things you love, the 'Loving' sculpture offers exactly that.
A figure that keeps what it holds to itself
After repeated requests from families who found a traditional urn on the mantelpiece too stark or too obvious, we worked with a group of established artists to develop a series of ash sculptures. Each piece has a hollow base that holds a symbolic amount of ashes, sealed with a screw cap that is included. To anyone else in the room, it is simply a beautiful sculpture. Only you need to know what it holds. The bond you shared with the person you have lost stays present in something you see every day, without asking anything of you or anyone else.
Tin alloy with a bronzed finish
The 'Loving' is cast from tin alloy with a dark bronzed surface treatment. Tin alloy has been used in decorative and figurative art for centuries precisely because it holds fine detail well and carries a genuine solidity. The bronzed finish gives the piece a depth and richness that recalls cast bronze, with none of the brittleness of ceramic and none of the cold quality of steel. This is a material chosen for sculpture because it lasts and because it looks considered.
What the sculpture does in a room
It stands for itself. You know what it holds. That knowledge belongs to you, and you carry it at your own pace. The connection you had with the person you are remembering stays close, in something visible and unhurried, in a way that a conventional urn for ashes does not always allow.
Practical things worth knowing
Tin alloy does not share the fragility of ceramic. It is stable in normal indoor conditions and does not react to ordinary changes in humidity or temperature. The 'Loving' is designed for indoor use only, placed on a steady surface such as a mantelpiece, bookshelf or sideboard. The hollow base holds a symbolic portion of ashes and is sealed securely with the included screw cap. No adhesive is needed.
Caring for the piece
Very little maintenance is required. Wipe the surface with a dry or very slightly damp cloth when needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or cloths, which can wear the bronzed finish over time. Kept indoors on a stable surface, this funeral urn should need nothing more than that.
Making it personal
If you would like the sculpture to feel more personal, a small photograph or meaningful object placed alongside it can be enough. Some people keep a private note or a short text near the piece that means something only to them. If you have a specific request around personalisation or adaptation, we are glad to talk through what is possible.
