Still and considered in satin black
Some objects don't need to speak to carry meaning. The Memento, finished in a deep satin black glaze, is that kind of piece: present in a room without dominating it, and quietly giving the memory of someone you loved a settled, dignified place in your home.
A production process built on precision
Ceramic has been worked for thousands of years, from ancient Egypt to the present day. The word itself comes from the Greek keramos, and the process it describes has always demanded patience and exactness. The Memento begins as a plaster mould formed from a technical drawing. Liquid clay is cast into that mould, then the pieces are removed and left to dry. Once dry, the surfaces are smoothed by hand before the urn goes into the kiln for a first firing at 900°C. The satin glaze is then applied, and the urn is fired a second time at 1,050°C. It is that second firing that produces the characteristic depth and the soft, velvety appearance of the finished surface. Nothing about that result is accidental. It comes from following a careful, multi-stage process with consistency at every step.
What black means here
Black carries associations with mourning across many cultures, but also with dignity, composure and commitment. Combined with a satin glaze, it does something particular: it reflects light in a subdued way, so the urn has a genuine presence in a room without pulling focus. If you are looking for something that honours the bond you shared without turning a shelf or a corner of your home into a statement, the Memento sits comfortably in interiors that offer quiet rather than spectacle.
Suitable for indoor use, with no maintenance required
Ceramic is a durable material that holds its appearance over a long period without any significant upkeep. The Memento is designed for indoor use only and is suitable for use with or without an ash bag.
Practical things worth knowing
Ceramic is a solid, long-lasting material, but like all ceramic objects it can crack or break if dropped or struck sharply. Place the Memento on a stable surface away from busy walkways or areas where it might be knocked. Kept in the right spot, it will remain exactly as it should: undisturbed and in good condition for as long as you need it.
Making it personal
The Memento's clean, contemporary shape gives it a neutral quality that works well alongside a personal touch. A photograph placed nearby, a handwritten card, or a carefully chosen spot in your home that reflects something of who this person was can shift a cremation urn from simply being kept to being genuinely remembered. Small details carry more weight than they might first seem.
If you are not sure whether the Memento is the right choice for you, we are happy to help you think it through at your own pace.
