Stillness in stone

Placing flowers at a graveside is not a formality. It is a way of returning to someone, quietly and repeatedly. A vase that belongs there, in material and character, makes that feel right.

What granite brings to a memorial

Granite has been used in memorial settings for generations, not out of convention, but because it endures. Quarried and precision-cut, each type of granite carries its own character: the grain, the texture, the colour. This spherical memorial vase is available in several granite types, so you can choose one that complements the existing headstone or monument, whether that is stainless steel, glass or natural stone.

Designed for outdoor use, year-round

The vase is built for permanent outdoor placement. A drainage opening in the base allows rainwater to escape, so the vase remains functional throughout the year. A removable plastic inner vase holds the flowers and can be lifted out when needed.

A choice that holds meaning

Returning to place fresh flowers is its own kind of connection. When the vase sits naturally alongside the monument, in weight, texture and tone, nothing jars. Granite does not shift with the seasons or soften over time. That constancy is part of what makes it feel right for this purpose.

Matching the vase to the monument

Because no two memorials are alike, the vase is available in multiple granite types, each with a distinct colour and finish. If you are unsure which type best suits the existing stone, that is worth thinking through before you order. We are happy to help you make a comparison if you get in touch before deciding.

Practical considerations for outdoor use

Granite itself is one of the most weather-resistant natural materials available, and this urn for ashes handles outdoor conditions well across all seasons. There are two practical points worth knowing before placement.

Have the vase secured professionally

We recommend having the vase fixed in place by a stonemason or memorial professional rather than leaving it freestanding. A loose vase can shift on sandy ground and scratch the surface of the headstone beneath it. Natural stone scratches are not reversible, so this is a step worth taking at the outset.

Remove the inner vase during frost periods

The granite vase itself will overwinter outside without issue. The plastic inner vase is a different matter. Water retained inside it can freeze and cause the plastic to crack during a sustained cold spell. Remove the inner vase when frost is forecast and replace it when conditions improve. It takes a moment and avoids any need for replacement.
