A face, a name, a life held in stone
Choosing a memorial stone is one of the most considered decisions you will make. You want something that reflects who this person truly was, that holds its quality through every season, and that gives anyone who stands before it a moment of genuine recognition.
Black granite and laser printing: a combination built to last
This memorial stone is cut from black granite with a smooth, polished surface. Granite is among the hardest natural stone materials available for memorial use. It resists frost, moisture and prolonged exposure to the elements without the surface losing its integrity. The laser print is burned directly into the stone itself, not applied on top of it. That makes the image inseparable from the material, fully embedded and unaffected by weather over time.
Your photograph, reproduced with precision
The polished black surface provides an exceptional ground for laser engraving. The process renders photographs in fine detail: the light in someone's expression, the lines of a familiar smile, a moment you would recognise immediately as characteristic of the bond you shared. You can choose from an existing selection of designs, or supply your own photograph or artwork. Please ensure any image you provide has a minimum resolution of 300 DPI. Lower resolution files cannot be reproduced to the standard this stone deserves.
Practical considerations before you order
Before placing your order, it is worth speaking with your cemetery authority or local council to confirm what is permitted at your chosen burial site. Cemeteries often have regulations covering dimensions, materials and forms, and some require that installation is carried out by locally approved stonemasons only. Any concrete base slab or post foundation beneath the memorial stone will need to be installed by the cemetery itself. Taking these steps in advance avoids delays and ensures the stone can be placed exactly as intended.
Approved by you before it goes to stone
Accuracy matters more here than almost anywhere else. Every order follows a fixed approval stage so that you can be certain of the result before production begins.
How the approval process works
Once you have placed your order, we send you a proof for review. This gives you the opportunity to check the name, dates and any text carefully before the design is committed to the stone. Nothing proceeds until you have confirmed your approval.
When preparing your order, keep the following in mind:
- Choose from an existing design or supply your own photograph or artwork
- Images must be provided at a minimum resolution of 300 DPI
- Review the proof we send you carefully, checking all names, dates and wording
