A peacock that stays with you
Some people fill a room. They bring colour, character and a presence that is simply theirs. If the person you are remembering was someone like that, a plain or conventional urn is unlikely to do them justice. This hand-painted keepsake urn is something different: a ceramic piece you would choose to display at home because it genuinely reflects who they were.
Hand-painted ceramic, fired to last
This keepsake urn for ashes is made in a contemporary pottery studio where craft is taken seriously. After each piece is painted by hand using specially selected brushes chosen for their ability to place the finest detail, a glaze is applied. The glazing process uses a mixture of glass powder and water, sprayed on in a controlled thickness before the piece goes into the kiln. At temperatures between 1,050 and 1,250 degrees Celsius, the powder melts into a fully transparent glass layer that bonds permanently to the surface. That layer does two things: it protects the paintwork and deepens the colours beneath it. The result takes several days of drying time and a precise firing process to achieve, and you can see the care in every piece.
The peacock as a personal symbol
The peacock is not a generic decorative motif. It represents someone who made themselves known, who brought vitality into a room and who never faded into the background. If that description fits the person you are honouring, this image carries meaning that goes well beyond the surface of the urn. You will know what it means. You do not need to explain it to anyone else.
Discreet enough to live on a shelf
Because of its refined decoration and considered form, this cremation urn reads more like a decorative ceramic object than a memorial piece. That is a deliberate part of its design. You can place it on a bookshelf, a windowsill or in a display cabinet as something that simply belongs there. Please note that this urn is not suitable for use as a candle holder.
Practical care and long-term keeping
Ceramic is a stable and durable material when kept appropriately. For indoor use, place the urn on a firm, level surface away from damp areas and out of direct sunlight. Both the ceramic body and the hand-painted decoration will keep best in those conditions. The transparent glaze layer provides an additional layer of protection, but this urn is designed for indoor use only and should not be kept in a conservatory or other environment with significant temperature or moisture variation.
Personalisation options
If you would like the decoration personalised, that is available as a bespoke option. The painting can be adapted to include a name, a date, or a motif connected to the interests and passions of the person you have lost. The bond you shared, the things that mattered between you, can become a literal part of this object. If you choose this option, one of our artists will contact you directly to talk through exactly what you have in mind.
If you would like to discuss a personalised design or have an idea of your own, get in touch via the contact form and our artist will talk it through with you personally.
