Fired at high temperature, it becomes hard, heavy and stable. The glazing process requires real skill, because reactive glazes do not behave predictably in the kiln. The potter guides the process, but the heat makes its own decisions. The result is a black surface with living depth: subtle colour gradations and variations in gloss that only become visible when light falls across it at a certain angle. You will not find exactly this pattern anywhere else. The urn you choose exists, in that precise form, only once.
