A life lived for football, held in something made by hand
If football was more than a pastime for the person you've lost, if it shaped their weekends, their friendships, their sense of who they were, then it deserves to be part of how you remember them. This ceramic cremation urn gives that love a lasting, considered form.
Forty years of craft in every piece
Geert Kunen has been modelling ceramic artworks for over forty years, entirely self-taught. His style comes from nowhere but his own hands and his own instinct. Each urn begins as high-quality clay, shaped by hand from start to finish. During firing, a layer of liquid bronze bonds directly to the ceramic surface, which is how that deep, characteristic colour is achieved: it sits within the material, not on top of it. From the first shaping to the finished piece, the process takes around four weeks. That is not a production line. It is craft.
An artwork, not an obvious urn
Because of Geert's distinctive approach and considered detail, his pieces are rarely recognised as urns at first glance. They read as art objects. The football form carries the memory of who your loved one was without dominating the room. It simply sits there, and those who know what it means will understand it.
Personalisation and bespoke options
Because every urn is made by hand, there is genuine scope for the personal. Text engraving is available, whether that is a name, a date, or a phrase that held meaning between the two of you. If you would like to go further and commission a urn built around a specific design, with particular details or adaptations, that is also possible. Geert welcomes that kind of conversation.
No two urns are the same
Hand-modelling means every piece is its own object. Small variations in surface and form are not imperfections. They are the evidence of a single pair of hands working through the whole process. You are not choosing a catalogue product. You are choosing something made once, for this.
Suitable for indoor and outdoor placement
This urn for ashes is suited to both indoor and outdoor settings. The bronze finish, bonded during firing, provides a durable surface that holds up well in typical outdoor conditions. If you have questions about placement or long-term care, it is worth getting in touch before you decide.
Practical things worth knowing before you order
Because Geert makes each piece to order, production takes around four weeks. If you would like engraving added, it is best to discuss that at the point of ordering so it can be incorporated during the making process rather than applied afterwards. The ashes are placed through an opening in the base, which can be sealed with adhesive once filled. If you are unsure about any aspect of the order, contact us and we will think it through with you.
If you would like to discuss personalisation options or talk through what is possible, we are happy to take the time to get it right with you.
