How a glassfibre urn is made

The process behind this urn is more involved than it might appear. It begins with a cast structure built from glassfibre, resin and plaster. Two or three thick coats of lacquer, mixed with plaster, are then applied over that base. Between each coat, the urn is rinsed with water so that each layer bonds properly and dries evenly. Colour follows, then a coat of varnish, then a second coat of varnish. The surface is levelled and polished to finish. None of those stages are shortcut. Each one contributes to the depth of blue you see and to the solidity of the urn you hold.

Light to handle, built to last

Glassfibre produces urns that are both lightweight and durable, which makes the 'Lannay' straightforward to place and handle without any loss of presence. It is suitable for use with or without an ash bag.

Designed for indoor use

This urn for ashes is intended for a place indoors: a windowsill, a shelf, a corner that belonged to someone. The blue responds well to natural light, and the multiple varnish layers applied during production help it hold its tone over time. For the colour to remain at its best, avoid placing the urn in direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

Care and practical notes

Glassfibre is robust, but the lacquered outer surface needs gentle handling. Clean with a dry or lightly damp soft cloth only. Avoid abrasive cloths or cleaning products, as these can damage the polished top layer. The urn is sealed with a base cap, which can be fixed permanently with adhesive if you prefer. It comes with a 24-month guarantee and is designed for indoor use only.
