A name fired into the clay, there for good

There is a real difference between an urn that is beautiful and an urn that belongs to someone. Engraving a name or a date makes that distinction visible, every day. If you are looking for something that does not just hold a memory but names it, this engraving option is exactly that.

Hand-engraved before firing

The inscription is applied by hand into the unfired clay by the artist. It requires precision: the lettering must be even and clear before the urn goes into the kiln. After firing, the engraving is finished in gold, so the letters catch the light and become a permanent part of the urn itself. This is not a sticker or a printed transfer. It is an inscription that lives inside the material.

What you can have engraved

You choose what appears on the urn: a name, a date of birth, a date of death, or a combination of these. All text is set in capital letters, which keeps the inscription clear and legible and suits the character of a carefully made memorial object. The name you choose, the dates that mark the bond you shared, become literally part of the design. That permanence is the point.

Delivery time

Because the engraving is applied before firing and the urn then goes through the full kiln process, delivery takes two weeks from the point of order. This is not a delay. It is the time the craft requires, and it is what ensures the quality of the finished inscription.

Please check your text carefully before ordering

Important: please review your text before placing your order.

Once the engraving has been fired into the clay, it cannot be removed or altered. If you choose to have text engraved on your cremation urn, the urn cannot be returned. For that reason, it is essential to check the spelling of the name, the order of any dates, and the use of capital letters before you confirm. Take your time with this. If you are unsure about the wording, it is worth waiting until you are certain. That certainty matters.

Permanent by design

An engraved urn for ashes is final, and that is exactly as it should be. Not every memorial object needs to remain adjustable. There is something steadying about permanence: the name is there, fixed, just as the person remains present in what you are keeping.

No room for doubt afterwards

Because the engraving cannot be undone, the text you submit needs to be right. Check the spelling, the dates, the capitalisation. Read it through more than once. If you feel uncertain about any part of the wording, there is no pressure to rush. Place the order when you are ready, and the inscription will be exactly what you intended it to be.

If you would like to talk through the wording before you order, we are happy to think it through with you at your own pace.
