One small shell, one lasting bond
A shell is not an arbitrary shape. It protects what is precious, holds it safe and carries it forward. This keepsake urn does exactly that for the ashes of someone you love. The golden heart set into the shell form speaks to the bond you shared, and continues to do so every time you see it.
How ceramic is made
Specially selected ingredients are blended into a ceramic body. Each urn is then formed using a plaster mould filled with liquid clay. Once the clay layer reaches the right thickness, the mould is emptied and the piece carefully released. Elements such as the heart are attached separately, seams are smoothed by hand, and the urn is fired at over 1,000 degrees. At that point clay becomes ceramic: hard, stable and built to last. The white glaze with its gold detail is applied after firing, giving the urn its distinctive finish.
What ceramic means in practice
Ceramic is clay that has been shaped, hollowed and kiln-fired. That is precisely what this urn is. The shell form is not a decorative outer casing; it is the urn itself, fully functional and ready for indoor use. The white glaze is calm enough to sit in any interior, yet present enough to be seen when you want it to be.
Practical care for a ceramic urn
Ceramic is a durable material, and with a little care it will remain in excellent condition. Because this is a keepsake urn for ashes, the detail below is worth noting before you choose a spot for it.
Placement and care
Place the urn on a stable, level surface away from busy areas where it might be knocked. Ceramic is not weather-resistant, so this urn is designed for indoor use only. To clean it, a dry or very slightly damp cloth is all you need. Avoid abrasive cloths or cleaning products, which can damage the glaze over time. The base cap can be sealed with adhesive once the ashes are in place, giving you confidence that the urn is secure.
A place that speaks of who they were
The shell carries meaning that goes beyond its shape. Found at the edge of two worlds, where water meets land, it has long been associated with transition and with things left behind on the shore. For many people, that image fits the experience of losing someone they love. If you are looking for an object that holds that kind of meaning quietly, this urn for ashes does that.
Making the space your own
The urn does not need to stand alone to feel personal. Consider placing it alongside a photograph, a shell collected on a beach you visited together, or a card carrying a date that matters. Small objects arranged around the urn can make the space unmistakably yours, telling the story of who they were and what you shared, without altering the urn itself.
If you would like help deciding on placement or have any questions before you order, we are happy to talk it through with you at whatever pace suits.
