A quiet presence at home

Some urns ask to be noticed. The Memento does the opposite. Its satin cream ceramic sits naturally in a room, present and considered, without drawing attention to what it is. If you are looking for something that belongs in your home rather than standing apart from it, this cremation urn is worth a closer look.

How the Memento is made

The production process begins with a technical drawing, from which a craftsman builds a plaster model. That model becomes the mould. Each urn is cast, then left to dry before the surface is smoothed by hand. It then goes into the kiln for a first firing at 900°C. The satin glaze is applied afterwards, followed by a second firing at 1,050°C. That second stage is where the colour comes from: the cream gloss is not sitting on the surface, it is bonded into it.

Why ceramic endures

Ceramic is one of the oldest materials known, taking its name from the Greek keramos and used by human hands long before recorded history. Specially selected raw materials are blended into a workable clay body, shaped with skill, and fired twice. The result is a material that holds its appearance for decades and needs very little care to do so. The double firing and completed glaze layer are what make that possible.

A place that feels right

The bond you shared deserves a place that reflects it. Cream is a colour that settles into almost any interior, from pared-back to personal, and there is something restful about it that never tips into sentiment. The Memento does not insist on being the focal point of a room, but it does not disappear either.

Designed for indoor use

This urn for ashes is made for indoor placement. The satin glaze protects the ceramic against ambient moisture and makes the surface easy to keep clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth. The Memento is suitable for use with or without an ash bag.

Fragility and everyday placement

Fired ceramic is a robust material, but it will not survive a hard fall onto a solid floor. Place the Memento on a stable, level surface that is not easily disturbed. A draughty windowsill or a crowded narrow shelf carries more risk than it is worth. A dresser, mantlepiece or bookshelf gives it the stability it needs. Chosen carefully, the placement becomes part of how this cremation urn sits in your life.

Making it your own

The clean, restrained shape of the Memento lends itself to a personal arrangement around it. A small framed photograph placed nearby, a plant you both loved, or a stone from somewhere that meant something to you both: these things make the space around the urn yours, not just a place for the urn itself. If you would like to add an engraving plate, that option is available when ordering and can carry a name, a date, or a short phrase that feels right to you.

If you have a question about the Memento, whether about placement, personalisation, or anything else, get in touch and you will receive a straightforward, personal response.
