A presence that stays with you

If you are looking for something that holds a person's memory without drawing attention to what it is, this ceramic art urn may be exactly right. It sits quietly in a room, familiar and considered, shaped by a craft that takes time and skill to master.

Hand-modelled in ceramic with a bonded bronze finish

The artist behind this cremation urn has worked with ceramic for more than 40 years. That depth of experience shows in every piece. Each urn is hand-modelled from high-quality clay, then fired in a kiln. During firing, a layer of liquid bronze bonds to the surface of the ceramic, giving the piece its distinctive, lasting colour. Because each urn is built by hand, no two are identical. The full production process takes around four weeks, which is simply the time this kind of work requires.

Designed as an art object

The contemporary form and the thought behind it mean this urn is not immediately identifiable as one. It is designed to sit within a living space as an art object in its own right, a visual expression of memory that belongs wherever you choose to place it. The bronze finish carries a sense of permanence. It does not fade, and that quality makes this piece something you can live alongside day to day rather than something that marks only loss.

Suitable for indoor and outdoor placement

This urn for ashes can be placed both indoors and outdoors. The fired ceramic body with its bonded bronze layer is resistant to typical weather conditions. For long-term outdoor placement, a sheltered position is advisable to help the finish retain its appearance over time.

Practical considerations

The ashes are placed into the urn through an opening in the base, which can be sealed with adhesive if you wish. Ceramic, even when fired and finished with a bonded bronze layer, benefits from being handled with care. For outdoor use, avoid positioning that exposes the piece to standing water or sustained frost. A sheltered spot will protect the finish and extend the life of the piece considerably.

Made to reflect the bond you shared

The relationship you had was particular to the two of you, and this urn can reflect that. The artist works with clients to adapt the form, incorporate a detail that held meaning, or introduce a personal element that makes the piece entirely yours. If you would like to personalise the urn, direct contact with the artist can be arranged to discuss what is possible and how it might be realised.

Personalisation options

Customisation of this cremation urn is available and might include an adjustment to the form or design, the addition of a meaningful detail, or another personal element you have in mind. Production takes approximately four weeks from the point of agreement. Throughout that process, you can expect direct conversation with the artist about how the piece is taking shape.

If you have a specific wish or would simply like to talk through the possibilities, get in touch and we will work through the options together at your own pace.
