A shape that has meant something for thousands of years

The pyramid was not chosen at random. Ancient Egyptian civilisations built pyramids as places of protection and permanence, monuments intended to endure. If you are looking for a cremation urn that carries that kind of weight and intention, this handmade bronze pyramid urn is worth your consideration.

Handcrafted in the Netherlands from bronze sheet

Each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands by skilled craftspeople who cut, weld and shape bronze sheet into the pyramid form. That process demands precision at every stage: each angle, each weld, each finished edge is the result of careful handwork. Because of this, the lead time is four to six weeks, though most orders are dispatched sooner. If you need a clearer indication of the current lead time, you are welcome to ask via the chat or contact our customer service team directly.

Patina finish: no two urns are the same

Once shaped, a coloured patina is applied to the bronze by hand. Patina is an oxidation layer that gives the surface its colour, and because each application is done manually, every urn develops its own character. You can choose between green or brown, and the differences go beyond colour.

  • Green patina deepens and evens out gradually over the years
  • Brown patina is finished with a light wax layer that halts the oxidation process and gives a gentle sheen
  • Both finishes are applied entirely by hand, so each piece is genuinely one of a kind

What bronze means in practice

Bronze does not deteriorate. It requires no routine maintenance and holds up to outdoor conditions as well as indoor ones, which means this urn for ashes can be placed wherever feels right to you, whether in a garden, on a memorial shelf, or somewhere else entirely. That is not a marketing claim; it is simply a property of the material. The bond you shared with the person you have lost deserves something that lasts.

Personalisation via engraving

If you would like to personalise the urn, an engraving plate can be added. A name, a date, a phrase that held meaning between the two of you: specific and lasting. If the pyramid shape held particular significance for the person you are remembering, a carefully chosen inscription is one way to make that connection permanent. Not as decoration, but as recognition.

Practical care and what to expect

Bronze is a durable material, but the coloured patina layer does need a little attention to stay looking its best. What is required depends on which finish you choose.

Green patina: care guidance

Clean only with a soft cloth, water and mild soap. Avoid scrubbing, as the patina layer is delicate. Over time, the green will deepen and settle into a more even tone, which is a natural part of how this finish ages.

Brown patina: care guidance

Indoors, keeping the surface free of dust is sufficient. If the urn is placed outside, the wax layer should be refreshed at least once every two years using beeswax: apply with a cloth, allow it to absorb, then buff to a finish. This preserves both the colour and the sheen.

Filling and sealing the urn

All necessary accessories are supplied with the urn. Filling is straightforward and can be done at home, or you can ask the crematorium or funeral director to do it on your behalf. If you choose to fill the urn yourself, the steps are as follows:

  1. Empty the supplied ash bag into the urn, leaving a portion outside as a makeshift funnel. If you prefer not to use the ash bag, skip steps 1 to 3 and use a separate funnel to avoid spillage.
  2. Use the protruding section of the bag as a funnel and pour the ashes in carefully.
  3. Seal the ash bag with the supplied cable tie and tuck it fully into the opening of the urn.
  4. Make sure the internal seating rim is completely free of dust, grease and moisture. Use the supplied cloth for this.
  5. Remove the protective film from the cap and position it carefully against the rim of the opening.
  6. Press the cap into the rim in a single firm movement. When properly closed, the cap will sit flush with the surface.
  7. Press down firmly to confirm the seal.

If the urn ever needs to be reopened at a later stage, our technicians can assist with that.

Also available as a keepsake urn

This design is also available in a smaller version for those who wish to keep a portion of the ashes separately.
