Two hearts, one bond that remains

If you are looking for something that expresses the connection you shared with someone you loved, not just as a symbol but as something you can see and hold, the 'Oval Hearts' cremation urn was made with exactly that in mind. The two hearts set within the oval form are not decorative detail. They represent a bond that existed, and that continues, even now that everything has changed.

Handmade in the Netherlands from bronze sheet

Each urn is made by hand in the Netherlands by skilled specialists working with bronze sheet material. The oval form is built through welding and shaping, step by step, with precision and care throughout. Bronze is one of the few materials that genuinely asks nothing of you over time. It does not corrode, does not require sealing, and holds up in changing conditions, which is why this urn for ashes is equally at home indoors or outside in a garden or memorial space.

The finish is a hand-applied patina in either green or brown. Because every patina is applied by hand, no two urns are exactly alike. What you receive is the only one of its kind.

Choosing between green and brown patina

The colour you choose affects how the urn develops over time and how you care for it.

  • Green patina: clean occasionally with a soft cloth, water and mild soap. Avoid scrubbing, as the layer is delicate. Over the years the colour evens out and deepens naturally.
  • Brown patina: a light wax coat is applied during finishing, which stops the oxidation process. Indoors, keeping the surface dust-free is sufficient. Outside, the wax layer should be refreshed at least once every two years using beeswax: apply with a cloth, allow it to absorb, then buff off.

Practical considerations for long-term use

Bronze does not break and holds up well against the elements, which makes this cremation urn a reliable choice for outdoor placement. For the brown patina, keeping to the maintenance rhythm above is what preserves its appearance. The green patina asks less of you but changes gradually over time, something many people find meaningful rather than troubling. The urn becomes a quiet record of time passing. If you would like to share the memory across more than one place, this design is also available as a keepsake urn, so the connection you had with your loved one can be present in more than one home.

Filling and sealing the urn

All accessories needed to fill and seal the urn are included. This urn is designed for use with an ash bag. The process is straightforward: place the ash bag inside the urn and allow a section to remain outside as a funnel, pour the ashes in carefully, seal the bag with the included cable tie and tuck it fully inside the opening. If you prefer not to use an ash bag, skip those steps and use a separate funnel when pouring to avoid spillage. Once filled, make sure the inner rim is clean and free of dust, grease and moisture using the cloth provided, then remove the protective film from the cap and press it firmly into the rim in one smooth movement. A properly closed cap sits flush with the surface. The urn can also be filled by the crematorium or funeral director on your behalf, and if the urn ever needs to be reopened for any reason, our technicians are able to do that for you.

Lead times and bespoke options

Because every urn is made by hand in the Netherlands, the lead time is four to six weeks. In many cases it is ready sooner, but we quote six weeks to give you a realistic expectation. If you need to know the current lead time before ordering, you are welcome to ask via our chat or by emailing our customer service team.

A design made for your loved one specifically

If you have something particular in mind, a bespoke urn is possible. You can send a sketch, a photograph or a reference image and our craftspeople will develop a design from it, followed by a quote for your approval. A bespoke piece goes further than holding ashes. It becomes a visible expression of who your loved one was and what they meant to you.

If you would like to talk through lead times, bespoke options or anything else about this urn, we are happy to take the time with you. Get in touch and we will work through it at your own pace.
